  1. Querent - Justice. Unlike the images of justice you see at the courthouses, I can’t wear a blindfold. To be able to find spiritual balance in my life I need to see what is true and to see the path behind and the path ahead. Having a full time job with a lot of hours, starting a spiritual coaching business, being present to my relationships, and my commitment to the choir I’m in is going to require balance and choices. The Justice card is related to the High Priestess as the 11th card 1+1 High Priestess is 2 but whereas the High Priestess is about deep reflections, Justice asks me to take actions on those reflections. And as the double edge sword of truth suggests, take actions on the choices I’m given. A powerful first card for this read.

  2. What’s missing, the reason for my quest - 8 of swords. This card feels personal to me. The background image reminds me of Mont-Saint-Michel that is a tidal island in France and was the setting of a movie I watched in college called Mindwalk and the image of that island has held my imagination to this day. I have been binding and blinding myself with my thoughts and emotions worried about what others think of me and afraid of being seen. I remember feeling so alone as a child like the woman in the card like a tidal island in my room, in my treehouse, walking on the outskirts of the playground, and in a crowd of family reflecting on their shared memories before I was born. The thing I wanted most, to be seen, turned into my greatest fear. Seems like taking off the blindfold and seeing clearly and being seen are themes in this reading.

  3. The path behind wounds suffered and lessons learned - Four of Cups. A theme of my life and advice I plan to give my clients is the power of reflection as part of the process of healing the spirit and healing our energy. But this card is warning me of the dangers of too much reflection and indeed what has held me back so much over the decades. I am too lost in thought and in analysis paralysis to look up to see what is always being handed to me. My reflections provide me with a ton of stability in my life but I need to get up and use my two legs to go places.

  1. The path ahead, a space for growth and discovery - Queen of Wands. Yaass, Queens! The witch of the tarot; I am protected by my familiars, the black cat Dax and my Eclectus parrot Perrin and they come with me on this journey. The path ahead is filled with creativity and passion and mindfulness of my principles. This card feels a lot like the Justice card I drew; look at me, thinking of me.

  2. Obstacles I’ll face, preceding - Two of wands. With the world at my fingertips, I’m still impatient as hell waiting for my ships to come in. Patience is going to be a big obstacle for me as is making firm decisions and taking action on those choices rather than sitting on my hands. I need to stay grounded.

  3. Windfall, some unexpected good fortune - Five of Pentacles. The only time pentacles show up in my reading on business and it is this card! If I constantly measure the success of this business by the amount of money I’m making, I will miss out on the beauty, gratitude, blessings that the business is generating around me and that will be the motivation to keep going to keep moving toward financial success.

  4. The Destination - Temperance. We start off with Justice travel through the Queen of Wands and end up with Temperance. Temperance in the tarot is less about moral ethics and more about mixing and combining elements properly. I love that this reading ended here since I got such a mix of the suit symbols and of the arcanas. May I take off my emotional blindfolds to see the wands, cups, swords, & pentacles my tools in front of me and use them in proper combinations to ensure the success of my business.
